2019 Kia Sportage: Features and Specs

Used 2019 Sportage: An Overview

During its launch period, the 2019 Kia Sportage was rated first in interior space, ride quality, and predictability among compact SUVs. A compact SUV with five seats, the Kia Sportage came with two engines, including one with a turbocharger. Front and all-wheel drive models were both available, along with six-speed automatic transmissions.

Today, the Sportage line continues to improve with every year, but the 2019 model, even used, is still absolutely a worthy ride for any family or busy traveler, as you’ll read in today’s post.

Is the 2019 Kia Sportage a Good SUV?

There is no doubt that the Sportage is a great used compact SUV. The adult-friendly cabin features straightforward technology and its safety scores are solid. The Sportage offers a balanced ride compared with similar models like the Mazda CX-5 and the Hyundai Tuscon. But it has some downsides, like the adequate fuel economy estimated and limited cargo capacity.

2019 Kia Sportage Features and Specs

Driving Feel / Performance

The four-cylinder engine is the base option. Despite the greater acceleration provided by the turbocharged engine, we wouldn’t recommend paying more to get this upgraded engine. Smoothly shifting automatic transmissions are a great match for both engines.

Despite its agility and composure, the Sportage is well suited to cornering. The vehicle rides smoothly over bumpy roads.

Safety

The American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rated the 2019 Sportage as five stars in the overall safety rating, as well as five stars in side crash tests and four stars in frontal crash and rollover tests.

It was given Good scores across all six crashworthiness tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. In terms of how well the headlights illuminate the road ahead, it can either be an Acceptable, Marginal, or Poor rating depending on the trim level.

Collision avoidance features are graded differently according to IIHS. With its optional vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system and its optional vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, the Sportage earned the highest rating of Superior.

Tethers on the upper portion of the seats are easy to find, but anchors on the lower portion are deep within the seats.

A responsive and intuitive infotainment system comes standard with the Sportage. Among the features of the upgraded system are a large touchscreen along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The central control panel also houses convenient physical controls for audio and climate.
