The 2017’s engine power comes from a choice of 4-cylinder engines with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which has all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive available.

The base engine is a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine with 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

In the top-spec SX Turbo, a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine makes 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Exterior Design

On the 2017 Sportage, upscale features include chrome trim around the windows on both the EX and LX trim models and 19-inch alloy wheels on the SX Turbo model.

The 2017 Kia Sportage crossover has five stars overall from the American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (out of five stars possible) and is a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS due to its available front crash prevention system.

The optional Autonomous Emergency Braking system saved the Sportage from a collision during a 12-mph auto brake test as well as a 40km/h auto brake test.

Driver Assistance Features

Among the advanced driver-assistance systems available are:

  • Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS)

Infotainment System

Also debuting in the 2017 Sportage is Kia’s next-generation infotainment system, UVO3. Depending on your trim level, your car will come with either a 5-, 7- or 8-inch touchscreen; each comes with specific features.

A 320-watt Harman Kardon premium audio system with eight speakers is standard on the top-of-the-line SX model.

In addition to the additional USB ports, there are also charging ports for mobile devices available on the EX and SX trims. For the latest version of UVO, there is 8 GB of space available for you to upload mini playlists.

Using Android Auto, Kia’s 2017 Sportage lets you link your smartphone to your car and access all of its features from the car’s touchscreen.

You can use Google Maps on your Android to find several routes to your next destination and use Google Music to listen to some tunes while you’re on the road by connecting it to the main USB port.

Kia Sportage 2019

Kia Sportage 2019 offers two engine options. An optional 2.0L turbocharged engine produces 240 horsepower, while the standard engine is a 2.4L four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower. Front-wheel drive comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission; all-wheel drive is available on all trims.

The 2019 Kia Sportage gets 10 L/100km in the city and 7.8 L/100km on the highway with the 2.4L four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive.

The 2019 Kia Sportage offers plenty of space for five passengers and two rows of seats. The interior space is 30.7 cubic feet when all the seats are folded up.

Those bulky items can be stored in 60.1 cubic feet of space by folding down the second row. The rear bench can be split 60/40, and the manually adjustable front seats can be folded flat, providing many options for layout.

In the 2019 Kia Sportage, you should be able to sit for longer periods without feeling tired. All 2019 models have supportive, comfortable front seats.

Rear passengers enjoy 38.2 inches of legroom; second-row seats should offer excellent comfort as well. An insulated interior helps reduce road noise, ensuring a comfortable ride.

Driver Assistance Features

Additional eyes can be helpful on the road. 2019 Kia Sportage models are available with Kia’s Drive Wise driver-assistance technology.

The 2019 Kia Sportage comes with a rearview camera as standard, and models with higher trim levels can add blind-spot detection, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic forward emergency brake assist, and front- and rear-facing parking sensors.

High beams are also available with automatic control.

The Kia Sportage 2019 year model is built tough and fully capable to protect its passengers. This SUV has high safety ratings from reputable sources such as the NHTSA and IIHS, as well as advanced safety technology that helps it achieve those ratings, so you can be confident it will protect you and your family.

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Sportage with the Top Safety Pick award for 2018 after simulating different crash tests scenarios. That award was largely based on the Sportage’s crash prevention systems, which were rated “Superior” with optional equipment.

Kia Sportage 2020

Powered by a 2.4L inline 4-cylinder engine, the 2020 Kia Sportage comes standard with a front-wheel drive system. Engines such as this one can produce up to 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.

The 2.4L engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with front-wheel drive. The 2.4L engine is estimated to offer 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway, according to EPA figures.

In addition to the 2.4L inline 4-cylinder engine, Dynamax All-Wheel Drive can also be specified. As a result of this system, the 2.4L engine gets 22 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway when equipped with this system. A 2.4L inline 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the S, LX, and EX trim levels of the Kia Sportage 2020 year model.

According to the EPA, a non-turbo Sportage can achieve 10 L/100km in town and 8 L/100km on the highway. If all-wheel drive is added, those numbers fall by 1 and 4 miles per gallon, respectively.

Sportage is the fastest compact crossover SUV in its class. It took 6.7 seconds to accelerate a 2017 Sportage from 0 to 100km/h, which ranks among the quickest in this class.

On base models, a sedate but capable non-turbo four-cylinder engine fills the rest of the powertrain platter. There’s no noticeable difference between the two models in terms of driving enjoyment.

The higher you climb the trim ladder, the more features you’ll find, including ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. Wireless charging is now available as well as leatherette seats.

With enough space for both the front and rear seats, this crossover SUV is surprisingly spacious. You can expect a comfortable and satisfying drive with the Sportage’s sleek and completely redesigned interior and plush interior trimmings.

  • Front headroom: 39.3 in.
  • Rear headroom: 39.1 in.
  • Front leg room: 41.5 in.

Make your daily driving experience more enjoyable with the 2020 Kia Sportage, smartly equipped with advanced technology features and old-school satellite radio. Kia SUVs boast cutting-edge design and technology, ensuring you have an exceptional driving experience.

Even with a lower price, the 2020 Kia Sportage offers more fun features. This includes the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto function, as well as standard/advanced safety features like driver aids such as lane departure and forward collision warning systems.

For a car in this price range, Kia’s base LX trim model comes with an option package that makes it well-equipped, unlike rivals who offer skimpy starter models.

Besides the adaptive cruise control and stop-and-go technology, the Sportage adds driver-attention warnings, pedestrian detectors, and lane-keeping assist as well.

Active lane control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam headlights are all new features on the 2020 Sportage. Monitors for blind spots are optional.
