Comprehensive Overview of the 2017 Kia Sportage: Features and Specs
A Close Look at a Classic Sportage
The Kia Sportage was created to be a family oriented vehicle that is full of features and value. It has been the best-selling SUV for 11 years running, which says something about its popularity, and it continues to get better with every new model. The 2017 model kept the same formula and offered a few updates as well.
Let’s take a look at what makes this car so great. Whether you’re looking for an affordable used car in our inventory, or a vehicle that will last through your years, this article can tell you everything you need to know about the Kia Sportage 2017!
Does the Kia Sportage 2017 Have A Good Engine?
With the same powertrains and standard automatic transmission as its predecessor, the Sportage maintains its predecessor’s good highway manners. Even with its 240 horsepower, the Sportage SUV’s 181 horsepower is surprisingly eager, regardless of where you take it. Due to its naturally aspirated engine, it provides smooth power without turbo lag.
Additionally, it is a good performer with an automatic transmission. You should get this motor if you’re not a speed freak, as it’s more efficient. A new electric power steering system and redesigned suspension make the Sportage more comfortable to drive.

2017 Kia Sportage Interior
It is important that SUVs are practical. The 2017 Sportage’s interior is optimized to be more family-friendly and more spacious than previous models.
With the split-folding rear seats in place, the cargo space increased from 26.1 to 30.7 cubic feet owing to the improved packaging. It also has quite a spacious headroom ideal for tall individuals.
Inside the Sportage, the second row seats five passengers comfortably, and the driver’s seat is well positioned for better visibility. For 2nd-row passengers, there are a 12-volt power outlet and USB outlet, as well as several storage compartments.
An expansive panoramic roof is also available. Third row seats are also very comfortable and flexible for reclining with great row leg room and row shoulder room.
With the rear seat up, the cargo space is only 30.7 cubic feet, while with the seat down, it is 60.1 cubic feet. It is possible to position the back floor lower as well.
Features such as heated seats, carpet floor, and a power door may also be available.

2017 Kia Sportage Exterior
While it retains the outgoing model’s athletic-looking stance, the Sportage is different enough from it to be interesting. There is a tiger-nose grille on the front end, which is the first thing you notice. All of the body panels are new, and we especially like the sweeping taillights at the rear.
Having dual-exhaust outlets makes the SX Turbo look sharp. Models with all-wheel drive (AWD) have slightly lower ground clearance than front-wheel drive (FWD) versions, and their front fascias have a steeper angle for approaching a vehicle.
The satin exterior trim of the Sportage is similar to Kia’s other models, but the front end uses a bolder pen than its usual ones.
All of the other features on the 2017 Sportage are beautifully rendered, once again proving that fine design is not exclusive to luxury marques.

2017 Kia Sportage Ride and Handling
By modifying the steering rack and the car suspension geometry, Kia hopes to make the Sportage more sporty while also improving the ride. Steering inputs and reactions are said to be smoothed out with a remounted steering rack with lower friction. A more rigid front suspension and bushings have also been added, while the rear suspension now has dual lower arms.
In addition to stiffer rear dampers, the SX Turbo model gets a softer set of springs and larger tires and wheels on its larger 19-inch wheels. Our only experience so far has been with this model, which strikes a great balance between excellent body control, sharp handling, and a compliant ride.
There’s a noticeable weight difference between front wheel drive and all-wheel drive models of the Sportage. However, AWD models have no problem navigating curves and choppy roads.
You’ll enjoy the comfortable ride, the poised handling, and the responsive steering in the Sportage.
