Creating Joy on Ice with the Kids with Cancer Society
At North Edmonton Kia, Community isn't just part of what we do - it's at the heart of who we are. On Sunday, October 5, 2025, we were honoured to host to a private family skate event with the Kids Cancer Society Edmonton, for families bravely facing childhood cancer - giving these brave kids a day to simply be kids.
The rink was filled with laughter, excitement, and the kind of moments that remind us why giving back matters. Families laced up their skates and hit the ice for an unforgettable afternoon alongside some very special guests -- our friend Cecily Ecklund, a 12-year-old philanthropist and brain cancer warrior, Ashley Callingbull, NHL Game Host, Miss Universe Canada, as well as Edmonton Oilers Players Clavin Pickard (#30), Andrew Mangiapane (#88), Troy Stecher (#51), Ty Emberson (#49) and Issac Howard (#53).
While we are a proud (supporter and donor) to the Kids with Cancer Society Edmonton (should we hyperlink to thier site at all, opening in a new tab), seeing the joy and excitement on so many faces getting to enjoy some fun moments with their hockey heroes was far more rewarding. These moments of laughter, courage, and connection are what truly drive our commitment to community partnership.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event possible - our Dealer Principal Bob Aaltonen, our General Manager Becker Handous, the Kids With Cancer Society Edmonton team, as well as our community volunteers, Cecily Ecklund and her family, Ashley Callingbull, and our very special guests from the Edmonton Oilers who took the time to make this day such a special one for these kids and their families.
